Your parrot needs the largest cage you can afford.
Small birds need roomy cages with small bar spacing. Larger birds need large cages with slightly wider bar spacing (but heavier gauge).
- Budgerigars (also known as Budgies or simply Parakeets in the U.S.) – 1/2″ spacing
- Cockatiels and small conures — 1/2″ inch to 5/8″ spacing
- Larger conures, caiques, mini macaws – 5/8″ to 3/4″ spacing
- Amazons and African Greys — 3/4″ to 1″ spacing
- Macaws — 1″ bar spacing
- Cockatoos — 1″ bar spacing
